Ok, now I'm impressed.
« on: April 17, 2011, 02:17:10 PM »
Really, I'm very impressed. I know this software by name since the 0.2 and at the time I played with it a little, but with the introduction of the sculpting tools I suddenly found it very interesting. The dynamic tesselation seems to work flawlessly and the feel with the brushes is quite good, especially considering this is your first try implementing them. I have to say that I noticed a little instability, I used the latest release (16 april) two times and it crashed in both cases. Anyway it's very good and I can't wait to see what will come next. I'm doing some doodling, maybe in the next days I will post more suggestion. Again, great job so far. ;)

Thanks!

Yes, I am working on stability all the time. Part of the problem is that, as I spend most of my time developing, I don't spend all that much time sculpting, so I don't find the bugs until people report them. So, if you find a repeatable crash, please send me a detailed report =)

To send you a report is there a log file I can attach?

Hi,

RMS gave me that workflow:

[WINDOWS MESHMIXER LOGGING INSTRUCTIONS]
 - open Windows Explorer, go to directory C:\Program Files\meshmixer04\
     - (or C:\Program Files (x86) if using win32 on Winx64)
 - run meshmixer_debug.bat
 - do whatever you need to do to make crash/failure happen
 - find log file "MESHMIXER_LOG.txt" in your Documents\meshmixer folder
     Win7: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\meshmixer\MESHMIXER_LOG.txt
     WinXP: c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\meshmixer\MESHMIXER_LOG.txt
 - email MESHMIXER_LOG.txt to meshmixer@gmail.com

Seems, logging has to be enabled with each start of MM

Thanks for the explanation, anyway I didn't find any batch file named 'meshmixer_debug.bat' on meshmixer folder. ???
I'm using the latest release of 16 april on winxp 32; is it possible that's the problem, maybe an older version have it?

Strange,

just tried it - uninstall - look if there`s still any content in a possible Programms/MeshMixer04 folder - if yes delete (or rename) - fresh install from a fresh download.

I have this meshmixer_debug in Programms/MeshMixer04

That's strange, indeed. Just to play safe I tried to install it on win7 32bit, but I got the same content I have in the meshmixer folder on win xp; you can see the attachment. Or maybe there is another folder? :-\

EDIT: At the third try it worked (Hooray!!!). Maybe it's just my computer that it's haunted... :P
Odd as this can sound, now that I have the batch file... I just have to make it crash again. ;D

Sorry, I am using Amazon Cloudfront to distribute the installers, so when you download it gets the .exe from the nearest amazon server. But I have just learned that it can take up to 24 hours for the new .exe to get out to all the amazon servers (!!). I am going to start adding a date to the installer filenames so that this doesn't happen again.

Yeah, I reinstalled the latest release that I downloaded some hour ago on win xp and now I have all the new functions (batch, poly count and rendering included 8)).
Probably adding a date after the name is a good idea to avoid confusion. Thanks for the explanation anyway, I was a little worried about my pc... ;D

Maybe I'm a little late for that, and this may be the wrong place to say it anyway, but...
Happy Easter, guys. ;D
